HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Men's Basketball will host current undefeated Mid-American Conference team Miami (Ohio) as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 7 at Cam Henderson Center.
Currently, that game is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on Feb. 7, but could move to 6 p.m. if chosen as a Wildcard selection as part of ESPN's television contract with the Sun Belt Conference. Television considerations for the matchup will be solidified in the coming weeks.
The contest will mark the 78th all-time meeting between the two long-time Mid-American Conference rivals, but it will be only the third meeting in the last 20 years between the programs, making it a special contest for fans to take in as the storied rivals go head-to-head.
Add in that Marshall (10-5, 2-1 SBC) is currently one of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference while Miami (Ohio) is currently undefeated and receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 while also in the top-60 in NET rankings and you have the makings of a marquee matchup at Cam Henderson Center with a rivalry flair to it.

The two teams met in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons with the road team taking the victory in each. On Nov. 17, 2022, Marshall earned a resounding 95-69 win over the RedHawks in a game where current senior Wyatt Fricks knocked down five 3-pointers on his birthday to lead the Herd to the win.
On Dec. 2, 2023, Miami (Ohio) came to Cam Henderson Center and left with a 79-74 win in a contest that came down to the final minutes.
In a series that dates back 93 years, Miami owns a 49-28 series advantage.
The pairings were unveiled during a collaborative announcement by the Sun Belt Conference and Mid-American Conference on Tuesday that included pairings for the women's basketball matchups on the same day, which will be played at the home venue of the Mid-American Conference teams.
As part of that announcement, Marshall's Women's Basketball team will hit the road to take on Central Michigan for a 1 p.m. ET contest on Feb. 7 at McGuirk Arena.
The Herd is currently 13-3 on the season and has won eight straight games, which includes a 4-0 mark in SBC league play. Marshall's women's basketball team is currently No. 83 in the NET rankings – it's second-highest NET ranking in program history.
Central Michigan is 8-5 overall and currently 2-1 in Mid-American Conference action.
