HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball has accepted an invitation to continue its season in the 2026 Women's National Invitation Tournament. The Herd will receive a bye to the tournament's second round and face the winner of a first round matchup between Ohio and UMBC on a date and location to be determined later.

Marshall's 23 wins are third-most in a single season in program history. The team has more than doubled its conference regular season win total from last year, with eight more overall victories than a season ago.
The WNIT will allow Herd fans to see more of the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference member Timaya Lewis-Eutsey as well as program veterans including Peyton Ilderton, Meredith Maier and Aarionna Redman.
Marshall has made one previous WNIT appearance in the 2015-16 season, being paired against Ohio that season. Participation in this season's WNIT will mark the sixth national postseason tournament appearance the Herd has made in program history across two trips to the NCAA Tournament, the WNIT, and WBI.
