Herd Women’s Basketball Travels to Youngstown State for WNIT Super 16 Matchup

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball (24-9) has advanced to the WNIT Super 16 where the Herd will travel to northeast Ohio to face the Youngstown State Penguins (25-9). The Friday evening contest is set for 6:30 p.m.
The WNIT field is down to 16, including the Herd and Arkansas State from the Sun Belt. The full bracket can be viewed HERE.

COACH JULI FULKS
- Head Coach Juli Fulks is in year two leading Marshall's Women's Basketball program. Fulks came to the Herd with a prestigious 400 wins while leading Transylvania to the 2022-23 DIII National Championship.
- Fulks and the Herd oversaw a seven win conference improvement in 2025-26, and eight more wins to this point from year one to year two.
PREGAME NOTES
- Marshall won its first game in 17 days by defeating UMBC in the WNIT Second Round, 66-53. Senior Timaya Lewis-Eutsey led the Herd in scoring in that game, as she has in 25 contests this season. Lewis-Eutsey earned SBC First Team All-Conference, SBC Newcomer of the Year, and SBC All-Defensive Team.
- Senior Meredith Maier has made 81 3-pointers this season, third all-time in program history. Fellow senior Peyton Ilderton is close behind with 75 triples this year. Shayna Gore has the two best marks in team history with 96 in 2018-19 and 86 the season prior.
- MU is 14-1 this season when its opponent scores 60 points or less.

ABOUT THE PENGUINS
- Youngstown State is 25-9 this season, finishing 15-5 in the Horizon League, falling in the tournament championship to Green Bay. The Penguins also had a bye to the WNIT second Round, defeating Maryland Eastern Shore, 61-42.
- The team is led by Head Coach Melissa Jackson with assistant coach Shayna Gore. The Herd's 21st century all-time leading scorer was recently selected to the WBCA Thirty Under 30 List.
- The Penguins also feature a pair of West Virginia natives including freshman Brooke Adkins from Wayne. Redshirt freshman Ashlynn Van Tassell is a native of Cameron.
- Friday will be the first meeting since 2000 for the two sides. The Penguins lead the all-time series, 13-4.
