HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team (12-10) closed out the regular season with a 4-1 on Senior Day over the Miami (OH) RedHawks on Friday at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center.

Senior Johanna Strom closed the match with a three-set victory at number one.

"It was great to see JoJo win the deciding match on Senior Day. I'm excited and proud of her. I'm happy for Katy and JoJo to win on Senior Day," Herd Tennis Head Coach John Mercer said.

Marshall honored Katy Limanen and Strom in a pregame Senior Day ceremony for their contributions to the program.

The Herd started strong in doubles. Thalia Smith and Polina Gumeniuk began with a 6-3 win at number three doubles. After falling at number one, Nour El Ouazzani and Sarah Copley won in a tiebreak at number two to clinch the point.

After MU dropped the first contest at number four, Smith answered for the home side with a straight win at number five with Alina Mokrynska following in straight sets at number three to make it 3-1.

At number one, Strom dropped the first set 7-5. However, the senior rallied for a 6-4 win in the second set and won in dominating fashion at 6-0 in the third to seal the contest on Senior Day.
