Marshall Cross Country Reveals 2026 Schedule

Season opens with the home Thundering Herd Invitational on Sept. 4
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Cross Country program announced its 2026 schedule Wednesday with six meets scheduled for the Thundering Herd.
The season opens with the fourth-annual Thundering Herd XC Invitational at the Kennedy Center YMCA Complex in Barboursville on Friday, September 4. As a change from previous seasons, the meet will take place in the morning, with the women's 5K race at 9 a.m. and the men's 5K race to follow at 9:45 a.m. More information on the meet can be found HERE.
"I'm excited to get the season started," said Director of XC/TF Keith Roberts. "Our kids have been working hard all summer and they take pride in the fact that cross country sets the tone for our entire program. We have some great returners and a great recruiting class and I can't wait to see everyone come together. Our first meet is at home on September 4th at 9:00am. It will take place at the Kennedy Center YMCA. It's a great venue for a cross country meet and we have great fans. I look forward to seeing the Herd Nation in full support!"
The Herd will have three meets within driving distance to follow, including the Louisville Cross Country Classic in early October before the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championships commence on October 30 in Foley, Ala.
"I'm looking forward to this competition schedule this year," said Coach Caleb Bowen. "We have some great regional matchups where I think we can compete well while also getting the valuable experience of racing against great competition."

October 3 - Louisville Classic
October 16th - Eagle Invitational (Hosted by MSU/KCU)
October 30th - Sun Belt Conference Championship
November 13th - NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship
