HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Men's and Women's Basketball are bringing fans together for an exciting night called 'Thunder On The Hardwood', which will take place Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cam Henderson Center.
This inaugural joint fundraising event benefits both programs while celebrating the start of a new season of exciting Marshall Basketball action.
Thunder On The Hardwood will feature a tip-off dinner and silent auction for attendees, who will also get to hear from Marshall Men's Basketball coach Corny Jackson and Marshall Women's Basketball coach Juli Fulks in advance of the 2026-27 season.
"This event is a great idea by Athletic Director Gerald Harrison and his team," Jackson said. "Thunder On The Hardwood is more than a basketball event; it is a celebration of a start to a new season and a chance to connect with the people who help fuel our program every day. The energy, commitment, and support of the Marshall family are what make our program strong. We're hoping for a packed house and can't wait to share this special event with everyone."
Attendees will also get the first look at the new premium spaces inside Cam Henderson Center while also having the first on-site opportunity to sign up for the newly-renovated spaces, such as the new Hartley Room, the Dough Daddy's Sky Deck and the Miller Lite Lounge.
"Thunder On The Hardwood will be an exciting evening celebrating everything that makes Marshall Basketball special," said Gerald J. Harrison, Marshall's Vice President and Director of Athletics. "Through music, fellowship and unique auction opportunities, we will bring Herd Nation together in support of every aspect of our men's and women's basketball programs. Guests will hear directly from Coach Juli Fulks and Coach Corny Jackson, meet this year's student-athletes and preview the new premium experiences we are introducing for the upcoming season. This is more than just a dinner; it is an opportunity to invest in our teams, celebrate the Herd spirit and help us build an unforgettable basketball experience for our student-athletes and fans. We look forward to bringing Herd Nation together and kicking off the season with Thunder On The Hardwood."
Both Marshall Basketball teams enter the year with great expectations following successful 2025-26 campaigns that saw great accomplishments for each program.
Marshall Men's Basketball enters the 2026-27 season with plenty of reasons for excitement after a year in which the team finished No. 2 in the Sun Belt Conference and advanced to the SBC Semifinals under Jackson, who was a Ben Jobe Award candidate for the second-straight year.
Under Fulks, Marshall Women's Basketball won the WNIT Championship with a 66-41 win over Illinois State in front of a sold-out, capacity crowd of 5,475 at Cam Henderson Center.
The victory capped off a banner year for the Herd in which the team broke the single-season record for wins following a 28-9 season.
The pride of both teams was elite home success, bolstered by the support of Herd Nation. The two teams combined to go 29-7 in 36 total home games in 2025-26.
Events like 'Thunder On The Hardwood' help build that support before the season starts, further strengthening the bond between the team and fans, which makes the Cam one of the toughest places in the Sun Belt to play.
"Thunder On The Hardwood is a great opportunity to bring Herd Nation together and build excitement for the season ahead," Fulks said. "The support of our fans and donors directly impacts the experience we provide our student-athletes, and we're incredibly grateful for their continued investment in Marshall Basketball."
