‘Home Of The Herd’ coverage to expand content, community reach under new agreement

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics and WSAZ announced a multi-year partnership designating WSAZ as the "Official Television Station of Marshall Athletics" on Thursday.

With the agreement, WSAZ will offer new "Home of the Herd" coverage that ensures Herd Nation has a front-row seat to every major Marshall moment achieved within Marshall Athletics.

"WSAZ has long been a trusted and valuable part of the Huntington community and the Tri-State region, and we are excited to welcome them as an official media partner of Marshall Athletics," said Gerald J. Harrison, Marshall's Vice President and Director of Athletics. "We look forward to working together to share the stories of our student-athletes, coaches and programs – and to remind people throughout our region why it is always a great day to run with The Herd!"

The new agreement was announced live on Thursday at WSAZ's studios in Huntington, which are located just one mile from Marshall University.

WSAZ's "Home of the Herd" coverage will provide a unique experience for sports fans across the Tri-State area and beyond, featuring dedicating programming with exclusive behind-the-scenes content as well as comprehensive coverage before, during and after the big game that provides information and entertainment across all WSAZ broadcasts and platforms, including the WSAZ+ streaming app.

"We are thrilled to announce this partnership and become the official television station of Marshall Athletics," Joel Swisher, Vice President and General Manager of WSAZ. "This partnership brings together two powerhouses to expand local coverage and highlight our student athletes."

The partnership combines the familiarity of WSAZ, the region's dominant No. 1 television station and a community staple for nearly eight decades, with new-age technology that enhances the informational delivery and platform in today's modern media world.

This innovative approach to delivering exclusive media content not only enhances the reach and impact of Marshall University, Marshall Athletics and WSAZ, but also allows student-athletes and personnel within Marshall Athletics to become better connected with the community as they share their stories.
