Marshall Swim & Dive Adds Christopher Waters As New Diving Coach

HC Phoebe Campbell brings veteran presence with successful track record to Herd S&D
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Swim & Dive head coach Phoebe Campbell announced the addition of Christopher Waters as the new Diving Coach for the Thundering Herd on Wednesday.
"I'm thrilled to have Chris join our staff!" Marshall Swim & Dive head coach Phoebe Campbell said. "His wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport gives me confidence that he is a perfect fit for our team. His reputation in the world of diving precedes him, and I believe that he will take our divers to the next level. I am ecstatic to have him join us in this new era of Marshall Swim & Dive."
Waters, who comes to Marshall from Colgate where he worked in administration, brings more than 30 years of experience to the Marshall program, having worked with all levels of divers throughout his career.
Prior to his time at Colgate, Waters was Head Diving Coach at Army West Point for five seasons. During his tenure at Army West Point, Waters earned Coach of the Year honors, had two Divers of the Year and won three conference championships.
In addition to his time at Army West Point, Waters served as Diving Coach on the Division I level at Colgate (2017-18), Illinois (2006-17), Tulane (2005-06), Syracuse (2004-05), Missouri State (2003-04) and Virginia Tech (2000-02).
During his 11 years at Illinois, he coached 24 Academic All-Big Ten selections and eight CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.
Waters also earned Coach of the Year honors in his time at Missouri State after having two Divers of the Year, three conference champions and 12 all-conference selections.
He also had 10 top-16 Big East finishers at Virginia Tech and two Big East finalists while at Syracuse.
Waters' coaching career began at Division III Connecticut College in 1999-2000 where he coached two All-Americans.
Waters graduated with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Social Sciences from Castleton University before getting a Master's degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Management from Missouri State.
