Romberg scored his third goal of the season; Obert made four saves

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The (RV) Marshall Men's Soccer Team (4-1-3) played to a 1-1 draw Sunday night in the Mountain State Derby against No. 21 West Virginia.
It was a sellout crowd at Hoops Family Field with 3,307 fans in attendance.
"It was well fought, a contest that was fought back and forth," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said after the match. "There was some great moments for the fans. You can the makings of a great team for us."
There was a long feeling out period early between the two sides. Neither team had a shot in the first 21 minutes of the contest. Civan Jesus Ferreira fired the first shot of the contest for the Mountaineers at the 21:45 mark, but Yurij Obert was there to make the save.
Then in the 25th minute, Haruhi Taneda dribbled the ball down the right wing of the pitch. The forward sent in a cross as Carl Romberg guided the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0 Herd. The goal was native of Germany's third of the season and the second in as many games.
In the final 20 minutes of the half, there was just two more shots combined by each side, with Luka Lucic's attempt being saved by WVU's Toby Mawer at the 38:14 mark as Marshall led 1-0 at the break.
Much like the start of the match, there were no shots in the first 15 minutes of the second period. Then late in the 62nd minute, the Mountaineers took a quick free kick. Jesus Ferriera found Jacob Redenfors, who cut into the 18-yard box and fired a shot past Obert to tie the contest 1-1.
Shortly after the goal in the 68th minute, David Cho fired a shot that was saved by Mawer. WVU answered with three shots on target in the final 16 minutes of action, but Obert stepped up and saved all three attempts as the game finished deadlocked at 1-1.
