Matt Monroe

Position:
Asst. Athletic Director of Ticketing

Matt Monroe became the Thundering Herd's new Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Ticketing in August of 2004. Monroe came to Marshall from the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as the Assistant Ticket Manager for five years.

"Matt is a great addition to our staff," said Marcum. "He has extensive experience with our particular ticketing system and has spent time at a prominent Big East institution, which provides a good background to continue the high quality athletic ticketing operation we have here at Marshall."

During his time at Pittsburgh, he was responsible for reseating and allocating football and basketball season ticket holders into two new facilities, Heinz Field and the Petersen Events Center. In May of 2002, the men's basketball ticket base at Pittsburgh increased by 250%, which enabled the Panthers to sell out the entire season, and in 2003, the Panthers' season ticket sales for football increased 200%. Monroe also oversaw the operational event staff for men's basketball and Olympic sports during his tenure at Pittsburgh. Before being hired by the Panthers full-time, Monroe was an intern in the Pittsburgh ticket office for two months.

"I am excited to be a part of the Marshall community," said Monroe. "Marshall has a winning tradition and exciting opportunities that lie ahead. The Herd has a great fan base, and I look forward to expanding that fan base as we enter Conference USA."

Monroe, 27, graduated from Robert Morris University in Coraopolis, Pa., in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
