Rodney Holden
- Induction:
- 2007
- Class:
- 1988
A standout performer during one of the most successful Marshall basketball eras, Rodney Holden was one of the top rebounders in the Southern Conference in the mid-1980s. The forward from Atlanta, Ga., helped the Thundering Herd to three Southern Conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances (1984, 1985, 1987). He led Marshall in rebounding three seasons and also the league in rebounding as a junior and senior, receiving all-league honors both of those seasons. Holden finished his career with 812 rebounds, a number that at the time ranked in the school’s all-time top five. Even though he played with the two most prolific scorers in school history – Skip Henderson and John Taft – Holden also scored 988 points in his career, and his .633 field goal percentage (119-of-188) in the 1986-87 season remains the best in Marshall history. His career percentage of .586 is No. 2 all time. Holden was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.
