Tommy Good
- Induction:
- 1984
- Class:
- 1965
Not only did Tom Good lead Marshall in tackles every season that he suited up for the varsity, but he did so while also playing on the offensive line until his senior year. A West Virginia All-State selection out of Sissonville High School, Good began his college career at West Virginia State and then transferred to Marshall after one year. At 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds, Good worked his way onto the offensive line at center and as a linebacker led the 1963 team to a 5-4 record as he topped the squad with 93 tackles. He really blossomed as a junior when he made 141 tackles, receiving first-team All-Mid-American Conference accolades as Marshall logged a 7-3 record under Coach Charlie Snyder, the school’s most wins in the period from 1947 to 1985. For the 1965 season, the MAC followed the rest of college football to a two-platoon system, so Good was able to concentrate on playing linebacker and he repeated as an All-MAC pick as a senior and once again led the team in tackles, with 84.
