HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Soccer (7-4-5, 3-2-3 SBC) moves forward to a Sunday home match against App State (9-3-4, 4-2-2 SBC) at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. In short, a positive result would go a long way for Coach Rafa Simoes and the Herd.
With a win - Marshall would guarantee a spot in next month's SBC Women's Soccer Tournament in Foley, Alabama for the second-consecutive season.
With a win or draw - Marshall would finish undefeated at home and would clinch a winning season for the second-consecutive year. Both feats would be firsts for the program.

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in his third season leading the MU Women's Soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes and the Herd had a resurgent 2025 season. In his second year as skipper for MU, Simoes led the team to win its most games in a decade with four All-Conference selections, also the program's most since 2015.
PRE-MATCH NOTES
- A potential win Sunday would also match last season's win total of eight. The Herd's path to the SBC Tournament is in its own hands, with MU currently in 5th in the table.
- The Herd is 3-0 this season immediately following a loss. MU scored three-plus goals in two of those victories over Wright State and Bellarmine.
- Sophomore forward Wiktoria Mikrut leads the SBC in overall shots with 54. Her seven goals continue to pace a Marshall side with nine different goal scorers this season.
ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
- At 9-3-4 overall, App State is two points ahead of the Herd in the standings with two matches remaining. The Mountaineers are also an impressive 6-1-2 away from Boone.
- Ellie Garrison and Libby Bermingham combine for 17 goals for App. Both rank in the Top-7 in the league.
- The Herd leads the all-time series, 6-1-2. Marshall won a crucial match in Boone last season to help the team qualify for the SBC Tournament.
