HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall Women's Soccer (7-5-5, 3-5-3 SBC) dropped its first match at home all season long with a 1-0 loss to App State (10-3-4, 5-2-2 SBC) Sunday afternoon.
A 13th minute goal off a corner was enough for the visitors - who went a player down for roughly the final hour of the match. Even with the player advantage, MU found itself unable to reach the back of the net for the second-consecutive match. The closest moment came in the match's dying moments when Luana Gusmao's shot hit off the inside of the post.
Despite the loss, Marshall remains in the Top-8 with 12 conference points, sitting alone in 6th place. Heading into the final matchday, four teams sit just one point behind the Herd. The full standings can be found HERE.
Marshall will close the regular season next Sunday, Nov. 1 at Coastal Carolina.
