Herd Men's Hoops Takes Out Eastern Michigan, 83-68

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) (Jan. 15, 2000) -- Tamar Slay scored 20 points and all five Marshall starters scored in double figures in an 83-68 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
Marshall (13-2, 5-2 Mid-American) is unbeaten in eight home games.
The Thundering Herd surged ahead 12-1 and built a 19-point halftime lead.
Eastern Michigan later scored nine straight points to cut the deficit to 57-45 with 11:21 remaining. But Slay hit a pair of 3-pointers as Marshall pushed the lead to 74-57 with 4:48 left.
Marshall's starters scored 78 of the team's 83 points. Cornelius Jackson had 18 points and six assists, J.R. VanHoose had 16 points and eight rebounds, Derrick Wright scored 13 and Travis Young had 11 points and seven assists.
Antonio Gates had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan (9-5, 3-2).
Eastern Michigan committed 20 turnovers and made just 1-of-13 3-pointers.
