Marshall's exciting fourth quarter victory over Bowling Green Saturday night at Marshall Stadium has resulted in a pair of Herd players earning Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week Awards.
Junior quarterback Byron Leftwich, who completed 21 of 35 pass attemptes for 327 yards and four touchdowns, was named the Offensive Player of the Week. It is the second time Leftwich has won the honor, having picked up the award last Oct. 30 for his performance against Akron, another game in which he led the Herd on a late fourth quarter drive to clinch a victory.
Redshirt freshman Roberto Terrell was named the MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against BGSU. Terrell recorded three kickoff returns against Bowling Green for 92 yards, including a 60-yard return in the first quarter to set up a game-tying touchdown. The redshirt freshman was also thrown into the fire in the secondary, posting seven tackles against BGSU.
The duo joins senior running back Trod Buggs who won the MAC weekly award for his performance against Massachusetts earlier this season.
