Special Helmets Honor West Virginia's Coal Heritage

When Marshall Football takes the field Tuesday night, the Thundering Herd will be wearing special helmets paying tribute to one of West Virginia's most important industries.

The coal-inspired helmet design features a unique Marshall "M" and helmet stripe, honoring the generations of hardworking coal miners who have helped shape the Mountain State.

The tribute also carries a personal connection for Marshall Head Coach Tony Gibson, whose father worked as a coal miner.

Tuesday night's helmets serve as a reminder of the hard work, strength, resilience and pride that define West Virginia and the people who call it home.

Under the national television lights, Marshall Football will proudly represent the state's coal heritage and the families who have helped build it.

Important Tuesday Night Parking Information

With Marshall University classes in session on Tuesday, gameday parking operations will look a little different than a traditional Saturday football game.

All gameday parking lots will open at 3:30 p.m., approximately four hours before kickoff.

Because the university will be operating on its normal academic schedule, parking lots cannot open earlier in the day as they typically would for a weekend game.

Fans are asked to plan accordingly and respect the university's need to accommodate students, faculty and staff throughout the academic day.

We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of Herd fans as we balance a normal day of university operations with the excitement of a nationally televised football game.

Once the lots open, it's time to get the tailgates going and prepare for a special Tuesday night at The Joan!

Thunder Walk, Fan Fest and Kickoff Kid

The excitement starts well before kickoff!

Thunder Walk – 5:10 p.m.

Herd fans are encouraged to line the Thunder Walk route and give the team an energetic welcome as it arrives at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

And for one lucky young Herd fan, Thunder Walk could turn into an unforgettable experience!

Kickoff Kid

One lucky child attending Thunder Walk will be selected as Tuesday night's Kick Off Kid!

The selected fan will have the opportunity to take the field during the game and retrieve the kickoff tee – a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a young Marshall fan!

Be sure to bring your young Herd fans to Thunder Walk for a chance to be selected.

Fan Fest – 5:10 p.m.

Fan Fest will open alongside Thunder Walk, featuring pregame activities and entertainment for fans of all ages.

Arrive early, enjoy the atmosphere and get ready for football under the lights!

Marshall Athletics offers special gameday experiences that provide fans with unique opportunities to get closer to the action and create memories that last a lifetime.

Let's Show the Country What Huntington Is All About!

Tuesday night is more than just another football game.

It's an opportunity for Marshall University, Huntington and Herd fans everywhere to showcase the pride, passion and tradition that make this place special.
