Herd, Jaguars face off in primetime on ESPN2 at ‘The Joan’

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football takes part in a rare Tuesday night home game this week as South Alabama visits Joan C. Edwards Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. contest that will be shown nationally on ESPN2.

PRE-GAME NOTES
When Marshall hosts South Alabama on Tuesday, it will mark only the fifth regular-season home game on a Tuesday in Marshall Football history.
The Herd's last regular-season Tuesday night home game came in 2008 when the Herd defeated Houston 37-23.
This week's contest will feature the Herd players were special decals on their helmets recognizing the state's coal miners.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools in Huntington.
Tuesday's ESPN2 broadcast will mark the fifth straight year in Sun Belt action that the Herd has been featured in a mid-week nationally-televised broadcast.
ABOUT MARSHALL
Marshall comes into the contest at 3-3 overall and 0-2 in Sun Belt Conference contests. This will be the Herd's first cross-over contest against a West Division foe this season.
Marshall running back Judah Price made his first collegiate start last week against Coastal Carolina, rushing 12 times for 124 yards with a touchdown while also catching a touchdown pass.
Herd linebacker Javae Gilmore also had a banner game against Coastal Carolina with 10 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, to go with a pass deflection that led to an interception and a blocked field goal.

ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA
South Alabama comes into the contest at 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference after picking up a pair of wins in which they lit the scoreboard up.
The Jaguars are led by running backs Keenan Phillips and P.J. Martin, who have combined to rush for 867 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season.
Defensively, the Jaguars lead the Sun Belt and are No. 6 in the nation in turnover margin with a +1.3 turnover margin per game.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the second meeting all-time between the two programs and the first to ever take place in Huntington. The first meeting came in 2023 when The Herd dropped a 28-0 contest in Mobile, Ala.
