Women's Soccer Readies For Last Conference Homestand
10/19/2001
The Marshall University women?s soccer team faces important tests in its last conference homestand this weekend at Sam Hood Field. The Thundering Herd (6-6-1, 3-4-1 MAC) will face Bowling Green State University at 7:00 p.m Friday. Sunday the team will play the University of Toledo at 1:00 p.m.
Marshall?s women are currently in ninth place in the Mid-American Conference. The team is looking for important wins this weekend as they face two teams with similar conference records. Marshall is third in the league in goals against, allowing only seven goals in 8 matches.
Bowling Green (7-5-2) is currently 11th in the MAC with a 2-4-1 conference record. The Falcons are coming off a 2-1 loss to Central Michigan on Oct. 14.
Toledo (5-6-1) is currently ranked 7th in the MAC with a 4-4-1 conference record. A victory against the Rockets could send the Herd charging up in the standings.
Marshall has only two conference contests remaining after this weekend. The conference tournament features the top eight teams in the league and with Marshall currently standing at 9th, this weekend?s homestand looms large for the Herd.
