Basketball Hosts Troy State Friday
11/22/2001
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University?s men?s basketball team will open the 2001-2002 home portion of their schedule by hosting Troy State University Friday at the Cam Henderson Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Marshall (0-2) enters the contest looking for its first win of the season. The Thundering Herd dropped games to George Washington (69-64) and fourth-ranked Kentucky (90-73) in last week?s NABC Classic in Lexington, Ky. MU senior guard Tamar Slay earned All-NABC Tournament honors by averaging 24 points in the two games.
Troy State (0-1) will also be looking for its first win of the year. The Trojans opened the season with a four point loss at Kansas State (64-60). The host WIldcats had to overcome a six point deficit in the final nine minutes of that game and an outstanding performance from TSU?s Lamayn Wilson. The senior forward scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the losing effort.
Fans can purchase a general admission ticket for the game (regularly priced at $7) for only $5 by bringing in a canned food item to the main lobby of the Cam Henderson Center.
