Curtis Head |
CLEVELAND -- Marshall junior kicker/punter Curtis Head became the fifth Herd player this season to earn one of the Mid-American Conference East Division's weekly honors by earning Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Herd's 42-21 victory over Kent State.
Head (Shelbyville, Ky.) averaged 42.3 yards on three punts against the Golden Flashes, placing two of his three kicks inside the KSU 20 yard line. KSU also did not have a single yard in punt returns in the game.
In addition to his punting, Head also connected on all six of his point-after touchdown kicks as well as handling Marshall's seven kickoffs.
Head also recorded a tackle on special teams after one kickoff.
For the season Head is averaging 42.4 yards on punts, he is a perfect 5-of-5 on field goals and he has connected on 34-of-39 extra-point kicks.
Head joins redshirt freshman returner Roberto Terrell in having won the Special Teams Award this year. Marshall has also won the weekly offensive award three times (Trod Buggs and Byron Leftwich, twice) and captured the defensive honor once with linebacker Max Yates.
