Amanda McMahon Named to NSCAA Great Lakes Regional Second Team

Marshall soccer?s Amanda McMahon was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Great Lakes Regional Second Team today. The award places her among the top players in the region.

?We are very proud of Amanda,? head coach Teresa Patterson said. ?She had a great season, but this award is also a testament to the success of our entire team this year.?

McMahon, a sophomore midfielder, has won numerous awards throughout her career at Marshall, including the 2000 Mid-American Conference Newcomer of the Year award and first team All-Mid-American Conference honors twice. The Stillwater, Minn. native led Marshall in goals in 2001 with eight. McMahon also tallied a conference leading 12 assists on the season.

McMahon led the Marshall women?s soccer team to its best season on the record books in 2001. The team posted an 11-7-1 overall record and had its best ever finish in the MAC at 5th.
