Huntington, W.Va. - Marshall University Women's Basketball Coach Royce Chadwick announced today that Roxanne White has joined the Thundering Herd staff as an assistant coach.
"Roxanne is an outstanding recruiter that has really been the backbone of Stephen F. Austin's recruiting that has led to seven straight NCAA berths," said Chadwick. "She brings a level of expertise to the floor that is irreplaceable."
White has spent the last five seasons as an assistant at Stephen F. Austin, where she worked as the recruiting, academic, and summer camp coordinator for the Ladyjacks. During her tenure at SFA, White helped sign two nationally-ranked recruiting classes and coached two Southland Conference Players of the Year.
"Marshall University has made a strong commitment to women's basketball and I want to be there at the ground floor and help that program reach its goal of national prominence in women's basketball," said White. "Royce Chadwick has always been tremendous to work for. He allows you to do what you know how to do and he is someone who helps people by giving them opportunities to succeed."
During the 1995-96 season, White served as an administrative assistant for the women's basketball program at Texas A&M. Her duties included public relations, marketing, and travel for the Aggies. She served as a restricted earnings coach under Chadwick during his first season at SFA (1994-95).
White excelled as a point guard at SFA from 1991 to 1994. During her career she helped the Ladyjacks to four NCAA Tournament appearances (including two Sweet 16's), won four Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships, and helped SFA compile a four year record of 105-20.
White, a native of Zwolle, La., earned a BA in communication from Stephen F. Austin in 1994.
