Women's Soccer Kicks Off the 2001 Season Saturday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-The Marshall University women?s soccer team will host Radford University in an exhibition match at Sam Hood Field Saturday, August 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The two teams last faced each other in an exhibition match in 1998. The game ended in a 2-2 deadlock.
Marshall?s women return all 11 starters from last year?s 8-10-1 squad. First team All-MAC selection Amanda McMahon returns for her sophomore season after scoring 14 goals and acquiring 32 points as a freshman.
?We?re really excited about the upcoming season,? said Marshall Head Coach Teresa Patterson. ?We are in the middle of two-a-days right now and we?re looking forward to seeing a lot of people out at the game Saturday.?
Marshall?s first official match will take place on August 25th at The University of Cincinnati. The Thundering Herd?s first home match is slated for Sunday, September 2 at 3:00 p.m. against IUPUI.
