Jeff Burkhamer Promoted to Position of Associate Head Basketball Coach

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University men?s basketball coach Greg White announced today that Jeff Burkhamer has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach.
?Jeff is an outstanding coach and teacher of the game,? said White. ?His experience, teaching abilities, and knowledge make him invaluable to our program. If there is an athletic director out there looking for a good head coach, Jeff Burkhamer brings the total package.?
Burkhamer, 39, has served as an assistant coach on the Thundering Herd staff since the 1997-98 season and has assisted in all areas of the program.
?I am honored to have this opportunity,? said Burkhamer. ?Coach White has allowed me to be heavily involved in all facets of building a successful program. I sincerely appreciate the confidence he has shown in me and I look forward to accomplishing more great things as a member of the Thundering Herd basketball family.?
Prior to Marshall, Burkhamer spent four seasons as head coach at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Fla. During his tenure at SFCC, he was named the National Junior College Coach of the Year by College Sport Magazine after helping his squad to school records for wins in a season, consecutive wins, and highest winning percentage in a season.
Burkhamer also has made coaching stops at North Greenville College, Morehead State, Charleston Southern, and Winthrop. In addition to this, he spent the 1992-94 season as an assistant coach for the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association.
Burkhamer, a native of Williamstown, W.Va., owns a degree in secondary education from Alderson-Broaddus and a master?s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Morehead State.
He is married to the former Diane Depler of Stow, Ohio. The couple has two children, Melissa (10) and Lindsey (5).
