Women's Soccer Defeats Xavier 1-0

Huntington, WV- Marshall University women?s soccer team defeated Xavier 1-0 on Friday night. The Herd?s Kelly Kennedy (Ft. Wright, KY) scored the game winning goal in the 36th minute. Marshall (2-1) played superb defense holding Xavier (0-2) to only 13 shots in the match.

The goal was scored off of a nice shot from the top of the box. Lauren Scott (Hillard, OH) made a sharp pass to Kennedy to earn the assist. Goal keeper Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, NY) held the Musketeers scoreless.

Marshall faces off next against The University of Evansville on Sunday September 9th. The match will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Evansville, IN.
