Women?s Basketball Inks Michele Hagan

11/19/2002

Huntington, W.Va.-Head coach Royce Chadwick has signed Michele Hagan to a National Letter of Intent to suit up for the Thundering Herd next season. Hagan, MU?s sixth signee this fall, transferred from Stephen F. Austin and will arrive in Huntington after the fall semester, making her eligible to play in the spring of 2004.

Hagan is a 6?5 center from Galena Park High School in Houston, Texas. Last year at Stephen F. Austin, Hagan played in 27 games as a freshman, and at Galena Park, she was the basketball team captain for four years. Her best game as a junior was a 22 point, 22 rebound, 16 block affair, and as a senior, her season best came when she posted 19 points, 12 rebounds, and ten blocked shots in a state playoff game. She was named the team MVP those seasons, while also lettering in volleyball and track.

?Michele is an unbelievable athlete with a great post player?s body and unlimited basketball potential,? said Chadwick. ?A girl her size is a difference maker when it comes to advancing at the conference tournament and NCAA tournament. You?ve got to have a post presence that can clog the lane, and with Modupe Ishola in there with her, the light will be blocked out.?

Along with Hagan, Chadwick and his staff have signed a stellar fall class. The list of signees is:
