Marshall Women's Tennis Defeats Bearcats 7-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Marshall University women's tennis team (#75) defeated Cincinnati, 7-0 today in Cincinnati.
In doubles play, Anna Mitina (senior/Sochi, Russia) and Alice Sukner (sophomore/Pittsburgh, Pa.) defeated Khushchehr Italia and Lyndsey Malony, 8-0 at No. 1. At No. 2 doubles, Jessica Johnson (sophomore/Swickley, Pa.) and Ashley Kroh defeated Jen Capuzzi and Leen Corniellie, 8-4. Lille Nzudi (freshman/Camaroon) and Danielle Hock (freshman/England) defeated Samanth Liu and Cristina Reyes, 9-8.
The Herd claimed all six singles matches. At No. 1 singles Johnson defeated Reyes, 0-6, 6-2, 6-7. Mitina defeated Capuzzi, 6-3, 6-1 to claim the No. 2 spot. Sukner defeated Italia, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Nzudi claimed the No. 4 position by defeating Malony, 6-4, 6-4. Joelle Good (freshman, Switzerland) defeated Corniellie, 6-0, 7-5 to claim No. 5 singles. Kroh defeated Liu at No. 6 singles, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Marshll is now 5-4 overall on the season and 0-0 in Mid-American Conference play.
The Thundering Herd will not be in action again until March 17 when they travel to Murpheesboro, Tenn. to take on Middle Tennessee (#63).
