Herd Drops Close Game at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. ?Alison Stier connected on the only goal of the game for Eastern Michigan as they downed Marshall 1-0 in women?s soccer.
Stier?s unassisted goal came within the first 6 minutes of the second half.
Back from injury, Marshall goalkeeper Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, NY) made six saves in the effort.
?Woods played real well for us,? head coach Chris Kane said. ?I am proud of our efforts today?we played hard all 90 minutes.
We didn?t get the result we deserved.?
The Eagles out shot the Herd 10-7 in the game.
Sophomore Jen Short (Mentor, Ohio) had a strong showing for the Herd with three shots on goal.
?We just didn?t get the bounce,? Kane said. ?Eastern is a hard-nosed, gritty team.
We played well?we just need to get take that intensity to Central on Sunday.?
Marshall moves to 1-11-1 (1-6-0 MAC) on the season, while Eastern pushed their record to 6-5-1 (5-0-2 MAC).
The Herd travels to Central Michigan on Sunday. The game starts at 1 p.m.
