HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall senior Ellerie Karl (Oakwood, Ohio) knocked in two goals but Bowling Green countered with four of their own to take down the Herd 4-3 in overtime on Senior Day at Sam Hood Field.

Karl put two goals in the back of the net in the first half as Marshall jumped out to it's biggest home lead of the season.

The lead was short-lived in the second half, however, as Bowling Green's Katie Piening put a goal past Herd keeper Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, NY) to cut the deficit in half.

Falcon Julie Trundle knocked in another goal five minutes later to tie the ball game at 2-2.

Marshall sophomore Jen Short (Mentor, Ohio) then took a Sarah Gupton assist for her second goal of the season.

It would be the last time the Herd would score.

The Falcons (7-10-2; 5-5-2 MAC), which needed a win today to stay in the MAC tournament picture, used a late second half goal by Megan Rapp and an overtime goal from Samantha Meister to seal the deal.

"It is a tough, tough way to lose," head coach Chris Kane said. "I feel for the seniors...they didn't deserve this.

We just didn't protect the lead."

BGSU outshot the Herd 15-9.

Marshall wraps up their season 2-15-1 overall and 2-10-0 in the MAC.
