Cross Country Teams Finish Strong at Lakefront Invitational

CHICAGO - The Marshall University Cross Country Men?s and Women?s teams turned in a strong showing at the 31st Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational, Friday.
For the men?s squad junior Craig Swisher (Bidwell,Ohio) continues to shine for the Herd. Swisher placed 53rd out of a field of 513 overall with a final time of 25:52, adding on to his terrific 2003 season campaign. The men?s squad was able to capitalize on Swishers effort and place themselves 13th out of a field of 18 division-1 squads at the meet.
The women?s squad was led by senior Shelby Pride (Bethel, Ohio) for the second straight week. Pride finished 83rd out of a field of 560 with a time of 19:07. Finishing close to Pride was junior Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) who placed 89th overall with a time of 19:14. The women?s overall scores combined to give the herd a 15th finish out of 18 division-1 squads participating in the invitational.
Marshall takes a week off and then returns to action at the Eastern Kentucky Invitational, Richmond, Ky. the following week.
