Check and Muktar Earn Final CSC Academic All-District Honors of 2025-26 Athletics Year

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Track & Field student athletes Lara Check and Ryan Muktar were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
Eligible nominees were based off TFRRS regional performance rankings at the time of nomination. Note: Only individual ranked performances are to be used for eligibility. If a student-athlete has participated in a RELAY EVENT, that can bolster the nomination but the basic criteria to be met is for INDIVIDUAL performances. Relays cannot be the basis for eligibility.
NCAA institutions:
- Cross Country - Top-50 individual performance at the 2025 NCAA regional competition
- Track - Top-50 regional ranking in single event (indoor or outdoor)
Check concluded her Marshall career last month at the NCAA Championship East First Rounds, competing in Long Jump. The Sydney, Australia native's 6.30m jump in the event outdoors was 4th regionally and 50th nationally. Her 6.19m jump was 6th regionally and 67th nationally. Lara graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.
Muktar qualified for his first NCAA Championships East First Rounds in May, his 2.12m jump in High Jump was 6th regionally outdoors and 69th nationally. His 2.03m leap indoors was 19th regionally. The sophomore from Beckley is studying Biochemistry.
