HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – When Marshall Cross Country takes the course Friday morning at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead, Kentucky, it will be exactly two weeks before the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championships. The Herd has one more tune-up prior to the title race with the Eagle Invitational on Friday morning, Oct. 16.
The morning will start with the Women's 6K race at 9 a.m. and the Men's 8K to follow at 9:50 a.m.
Marshall's Rachael Withrow has had a record-breaking season so far for MU. Withrow has won all three of the meets the Herd has been at this season, including most recently at the Louisville Classic Gold Race. Withrow has won the SBC Female Runner of the Week award on three occasions this season, the most in a single-season for Marshall.
On the men's side, Justin Lipscomb has led the way in all three races so far. A balanced attack separated the Herd's one through five runners by 50 seconds.
"We are really excited to race at Morehead tomorrow! This meet will be great for us to focus on pack running, progressing through the field, and finishing well," said Head Cross Country Coach Caleb Bowen. "Meets like this are perfect simulations of what we'll see at the conference championship so we are excited to get this experience."
