McCoy To Play For WPSL's Akron Racers

11/17/2003

AKRON, Ohio ? Marshall University softball graduate assistant Tracee McCoy has signed a contract to play professional softball for the Akron Racers.

McCoy, who was a three-year All-Mid American Conference performer at the University of Akron, will join the WPSL?s Racers in 2004. The Akron Racers have a 30-game home schedule that begins in June and concludes in late August.

Joey Arrietta, Executive Director/GM of Fastpitch Operations, is thrilled at the addition of McCoy to the 14-player roster.

?We were particularly impressed with Tracee?s quickness with the bat,? Arrietta said. ?Defensively, we project her to see action at shortstop and at second base.?

McCoy, who is in her first year at Marshall, is currently working on her master?s degree in athletic administration.
