HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University women's swimming and diving team lost to Buffalo today by a score of 110-188 in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.

Leading the way for the Thundering Herd (2-2, 1-2 MAC) was freshman Emily Edmonson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) with first place finishes in the 200-yard medley (1:49.41), the 50-yard freestyle (24.85) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.40). The 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Edmonson, Cara Davison (Chesterton, Ind.), Emily Moe (Rockford, Mich.) and Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland) set a new Marshall and pool record. Kuurto also set a new pool record in the 100-yard butterfly (55.77), and Moe set a new Marshall record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.42).

In diving Casey Mulholland finished third in the 1-meter (218.26, 205.27). Mulholland also swam a the third leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:03.49).

"Overall today, we swam well," said Marshall University Head Coach Leonard Kraus, "except for a couple of events. We were flat in a few places."

Abby Delia led the Bulls (3-1, 2-1 MAC) to their victory with first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (59.83), the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.02) and the 200-yard IM (2:13.79). She set new Fitch records in all three events.

"Buffalo is a tremendous team," said Kraus, "they're a potential MAC top three. They were able to take advantage of our flat spots. We have to make sure that we don't have any of those tomorrow."

The Herd hits the water again tomorrow at noon in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium, when they take on Akron.
