- 2004 Marshall Softball Schedule
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? The quest for a second consecutive Mid-American Conference title will start with a double-header against the Western Michigan Broncos at home on March 27.
The 2004 edition of Marshall softball kicks off with the Herd on the road at pre-season tournaments in St. Augustine, Fla., in Raleigh, N.C., and in Chattanooga, Tenn. MU then gets a hearty welcome home when they play host to the Ramada Marshall Softball Spring Classic, featuring Eastern Michigan, Cleveland State and Pittsburgh.
After venturing to stints at Winthrop, North Carolina State, the University of North Carolina and Virginia Tech, the Herd enters into its Mid-American Conference schedule with a doubleheader at Dot Hicks Field against the Broncos of Western Michigan.
In the middle of the MAC title hunt, the Herd will travel to the University of Arkansas for a match-up with the Razorbacks.
According to Stanton, the schedule caters to the Herd?s quest for another Mid American Conference title.
?We are very excited about the schedule for the 2004 season,? Stanton said. ?It is going to be a great test for us playing schools out of the Big East (Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech), the SEC (Arkansas and Alabama) and the ACC (North Carolina State and University of North Carolina) along with a tough MAC schedule.
We are going to need to play hard every single day from the start of the season to the very end.?
MU?s home opener will be March 5 against Cleveland State in the Ramada Marshall University Softball Spring Classic at 2 p.m. All games at Dot Hicks Field are free to the public.
