BETHLEHEM, Pa. ? A Genice Terry three-point field goal with seven seconds remaining lifted the Ole Miss Lady Rebels to a 54-53 victory over the Marshall women?s basketball team in the championship game of the Lehigh Christmas City Classic on Wednesday at Stabler Arena.

Marshall (8-2) led by two points with 25 seconds left in regulation after senior Amy Smith (Ramstein, Germany) sank a jumper in the lane off a feed from Catie Knable (Floyd Knobs, Ind.). Ole Miss (7-5) head coach Carol Ross then took a timeout before the late game dramatics ended the Thundering Herd?s three-game win streak. Lady Rebel Carletta Brown found Terry toward the top of the key where she promptly drilled the game-winning shot.

The Herd trailed 24-22 at halftime but came out with a 9-0 run to start the second half and gain its largest lead of the game at 31-24. The two squads exchanged baskets throughout the late stages of the second half and Marshall, down four points at the five minute mark, eventually tied the contest on two Kim Griffin (Valdosta, Ga.) free throws with 1:30 remaining.

Knable scored 10 points with eight rebounds and Griffin posted a team-high 11 points with a pair of assists and steals. The duo was named to the Christmas City Classic All-Tournament Team. Ole Miss? Terry was named tournament MVP along with teammate Armintie Price?s nod to the all-tournament squad.

Price left the game in the first half after crashing to the hardwood under the Marshall goal. The freshman guard returned in the second half to finish with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

The Lady Rebel full-court press disrupted the Herd offense to the tune of 30 Ole Miss points off 26 Herd turnovers. Terry recorded four steals and 6-foot-4 junior center Amber Terrell swatted four Herd shots away.

The Herd ends its season-opening non-conference schedule and will jump into Mid-American Conference play on Saturday versus the Ball State Cardinals in Muncie, Ind.
