Thundering Herd Women Travel To Bowling Green

2/25/2003

Huntington, W.Va.--The Marshall women?s basketball team (9-15, 5-8 MAC) look to keep their dreams of hosting a MAC Tournament first-round game alive when they take on the Bowling Green Falcons (11-13, 4-9 MAC) at Anderson Arena.

The Thundering Herd, who had their two game winning streak snapped by the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in Athens, will try to regroup against Bowling Green. Before Saturday?s loss, Marshall knocked off Ball State and Kent State, division leaders at the time, in consecutive games at the Henderson Center. The Herd has won only one conference game on the road this season, a 64-56 come-from-behind victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles on February 8th.

Marshall will have a tough task against the Falcons, who have won all four of their Mid-American Conference games in the friendly confines of Anderson Arena. Included in those wins is a victory over MAC West Co-Leader Toledo earlier in the season.

Bowling Green and Marshall will meet for the 11th time at Anderson Arena on Wednesday night, with the Falcons holding an 8-2 advantage over the Thundering Herd in the career series. Last season, the two teams split a pair of contests, with both teams winning on their home floor. Bowling Green beat MU, 76-52, at Anderson Arena on January 26th, and the Herd took out the Falcons, 56-43, on February 16th at the Henderson Center.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The game can be heard locally on WMUL-FM 88.1, or on the worldwide web at www.herdzone.com.
