Sukner was chosen for the award following her performance against Miami (Ohio) University in the conference opener for both schools. Sukner teamed with Jessica Johnson at the number one doubles position to defeat Megan and Zimpfer and Ilze Meyer 8-1. She followed the victory with a win at the number two singles position over Nancy Wiengand.
The latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll has the doubles team of Johnson and Sukner ranked 13th in the country.
Marshall defeated Miami (Ohio) 7-0 to move their record to 4-5 overall, 1-0 in conference.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week?s competition. The winners are selected by one of the conference?s faculty athletic representatives.
