Former Falcon Donley Named New Marshall Diving Coach

7/15/2003

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? Marshall University women?s swimming coach Leonard Kraus has announced the hiring of Ryan Donley as the new coach of the Thundering Herd divers.

Donley brings a familiarity with the Mid-American Conference after her four years of competitive diving at Bowling Green State University from 1999-2003. She recently earned her Bachelor of Arts in both sociology and psychology from BGSU.

?We?re happy to bring Ryan into the Marshall family,? Kraus said. ?Her experience in the MAC coupled with her ability to teach the sport will pay dividends for our young program.?

The Columbus, Ohio, native was a consistent top 16 performer in the 1-meter competition at the MAC Championships from her sophomore through senior years with the Falcons, as well as finishing in the top 22 or better in the 3-meter portion over that span.

Donley was the former head diving coach at the Olympic Swim Club in Columbus for five seasons and instructed at the Bowling Green Swim Club and the Wood County Parks in the summer of 2001.

The Thundering Herd will begin their second season of competition when the Penguins of Youngstown State University visit Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium on Oct. 18.
