HUNTINGTON, WV-- DSA Premier's defense proved to be too much for the Herd to handle as they were dealt a 2-0 loss Sunday afternoon.
DSA Premier capitalized on two penalty kicks in the first half and never looked back.
"We made two critical mistakes early on," Head Coach Chris Kane said. "It pretty much killed us."
Marshall had 14 shots on the day but stingy DSA Premier goalie Jaimel Johnson had her hand on 11 saves.
"We need to do a better job at spreading the ball at the net," Kane said. "We have got to be more aggressive in our attack."
Marshall held DSA scoreless in the second half.
"We did a much better job in the second half," Kane said. "They moved better and it was more organized."
The Herd will play at Purdue University in the Boilermaker Invitational this weekend.
The first game will be with the host Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ind. on August 29th.
