Hokies Final Test for Women's Soccer

The Marshall women?s soccer team will conclude its season on Wednesday when it travels to Blacksburg, Va. for a match-up with Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia Tech.

MU (3-12-3, 0-11-1 MAC) finished its Mid-American Conference play last weekend on the road with a pair of losses against Buffalo, 2-1, and Kent State, 2-0, on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Freshman Kassie Hollman (Macon, Ga.) scored the lone goal on the weekend, a score in the 88th minute against the Bulls. She currently leads the squad with four goals. Junior Jen Short (Mentor, Ohio) is second with three. Herd keeper Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, N.Y.) had a stellar performance against the Zips on Sunday, racking up a career and program-best 13 saves for the second time this season. The senior has 112 saves en route to giving up 28 goals in 2004.

Virginia Tech (9-7-0, 4-5-0 ACC) is led by Ashley Stinson who has 16 goals, five assists and 37 points. Stinson has attempted 63 shots in 2004, more than double of any other Hokie. Mallory Soldner has been the only Tech player at keeper this season and has tallied 87 saves. She also boasts four shutouts. The Hokies defeated Miami (Fla.), 2-1, in their last action on Sunday. Tech is 7-2-0 in the friendly confines of Blacksburg this season.

Kickoff versus the Hokies begins at 7 p.m.
