Marshall Swimming and Diving to Compete in Doug Coers Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University?s women?s swimming and diving team will travel to Muncie, Ind. where they will compete in the Doug Coers Invitational.

The invitational will take place at the Lewellen Aquactic Center and is being hosted by Ball State University. The invitational is a two-day event and will begin Friday November 19, 2004 at 6 p.m. The meet will continue Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

This will be the Herd?s first appearance in the Doug Coers Invitational. Leading the way for the Herd into the weekend are senior Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland) and junior Erika Nilsson (Haninge, Sweden). Last weekend in the Herd?s victory over Buffalo, Kuurto set two new Marshall records in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.00) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.10). In a quint meet hosted by Akron, Nilsson helped to lead the Herd to victory by finishing first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:27.48) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.45) and was a member of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay team (7:47.05).
