CLEVELAND - Marshall University swimmer Erika Nilsson was named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for November 22.
The Thundering Herd participated in the Doug Coers Invitational at Ball State University over the weekend. Nilsson helped Marshall capture an overall second place finish. Nilsson scored points for the Herd with first place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.00) and the 1650-yard freestyle (17:12.92). The senior swimmer from Haninge, Sweden was also a member of the top finishing 800-yard freestyle team (7:44.76) and 400-yard medley relay team (3:59.68) as well as the second place 400-yard freestyle team (3:37.17) and the third place 200-yard freestyle team (1:40.91). Nilsson also gathered points with a third place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.33).
Also nominated this week were Karla Bailey of Ball State, Caroline Keating from Bowling Green, Christin Eberst of Miami and Iiris Hilvo of Toledo
This is Nilsson?s first swimmer of the week honor as a senior; she was honored once during her junior season. This is the Herd?s second MAC Swimmer of the Week honor this season, Milla Kuurto earned the honor previously.
