11/4/2004
CLEVELAND?Marshall women?s soccer freshman Kassie Hollman (Marietta, Ga.) was named to the 2004 Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday, Nov. 4.
Hollman, who missed the beginning of the season with a knee injury, had a late-season tear in which the rookie netted four goals and tallied an assist for nine points. She also posted an astounding .400 shot percentage. The freshman started in eight of the 13 games she appeared in.
?We are very excited about Kassie getting this award in our last season in the conference,? head coach Chris Kane said. ?With Kassie and the rest of our solid freshmen class returning next season, I believe that there is much to be excited about for years to come for the Herd.?
Miami?s Ashley Swinehart was named MAC Player of the Year and Kent State head coach Rob Marinaro was recognized as MAC Coach of the Year. The awards were the second consecutive for both.
Kent State?s Kimberly Dimitroff was honored as the Newcomer of the Year. The freshman forward from Oakville, Ontario finished first in the MAC in nearly every offensive category this season. Dimitroff led the MAC in points (34), goals (15), points per game (1.79) and goals per game (0.79).
