OXFORD, OHIO - The Marshall University women's swimming and diving team completed day two of the Miami Invitational today with a school record setting performance in the 800-yard freestyle relay recording a time of 7:35.39 shattering the previous record of 7:40.77.

The relay team members were Milla Kuurto (Lohja, Finland), Renee Lambert (Morrelville, Tenn.), Emily Edmonson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Erika Nilsson (Haninge, Sweden).

In the 200-yard freestyle Kuurto, Lambert and Nilsson finished first (1:50.35), third (1:51.87) and fourth (1:52.61), respectively. Kuurto also had a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.40.

Freshman Lauren Ford (St. Albans, W.Va.) had a seventh place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (4:37.51), while junior Emily Moe (Rockford, Mich.) placed eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.64).

"We swam very very well today," said Marshall University Head Coach Leonard Kraus. "The team was really into it and they just went out and gave it everything."

In diving junior Casey Mulholland (Stone Mountain, Ga.) finished second with a score of 244.05 and freshman Gina Sylvester (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed fifth (202.55).

Marshall is currently setting in third place just behind host team Miami and Kenyon.

"We have one more day to go," said Kraus. "Tomorrow is the mile, the 200 fly and the 100 free. Those should be big events for us and we should be able to gain a lot of points off of those events."

The Herd will compete in the final day of the Miami Invitational on Sunday. The preliminary round will begin at 9 a.m. with the finals starting at 4 p.m. in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
