Wintter Picks Up Co-Player of the Week Award

Leigh Wintter was named MAC-Co Player of the Week on Monday.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? For the fourth week in a row, the Marshall University softball team has garnered a Mid-American Conference East Player or Pitcher of the Week recognition. Leigh Wintter (Acworth, Ga.) was recognized by the league office on Monday for her contributions in the Herd?s two wins over defending tournament champion Western Michigan last weekend.

Wintter pounded out four hits on six tries and connected for four RBIs on Saturday. The sophomore?s three-run home run in game two against the Broncos helped secure a 7-6 win.

The third baseman currently leads the conference in RBIs (34) and home runs (9), while batting .294 in the clean-up slot.
