Miami (Ohio) designated player Sarah Buffie?s double in the sixth inning drove home Jackie Poggendendorf for the only run of the game as the RedHawks defeated the Herd, 1-0, in game one of the doubleheader.

Marshall (27-19, 8-4) was out-hit in the contest, 9-4, by Miami (Ohio) (17-19, 10-4).

Game Two: Marshall 6, Miami (Ohio) 3

Amanda Williams (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Sarah Wilson (Washington, W.Va.) each registered two RBIs as the Herd downed Miami (Ohio), 6-3, in game two on Saturday.

After Miami (Ohio) picked up the first run of the game in the top of the first, Marshall came back to score one of their own when Wilson?s RBI double down the right field line scored A. Williams for a 1-1 tie.

The Herd would then erupt for three more in the third when A. With the score 4-1, Abigail Harter (Monmouth, Oreg.) hit her first career home run in the bottom of the fourth to give Marshall a five run cushion.

Miami (Ohio) would pick up another run in the fifth, but would fall short, as Harter snagged her sixth win of 2004.
