Women's Soccer Notches Six Goals in Exhibition

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Four freshmen netted goals for the Marshall women?s soccer team on Sunday afternoon as the Thundering Herd took down Kenyon College, 6-0, in an exhibition contest.

Sara Burdick (Leicester, N.Y.) and Jenna Greenwood (Westerville, Ohio) each tallied two goals apiece while fellow newcomers Mollie Lee (Leawood, Kan.) and Katy Lee (Larkspur, Colo.) scored one goal for the Herd.

Head coach Chris Kane said that the match was big for the squad?s morale heading into the first weekend of the season.

?It was great that Kenyon was able to do this last minute after our scrimmage (against Pittsburgh) was rained out yesterday,? Kane said. ?I think we were able to get a lot of jitters out and start to build some confidence.

?The team looked great?I am very happy with the offensive output this afternoon.?

Marshall will begin its regular season in Philadelphia on Friday, Aug. 27, with a game at LaSalle at 3 p.m.
