Herd Women Looking for First MAC Win at NIU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall will attempt to tally Mid-American Conference win No. 1 of the season when it travels to DeKalb, Ill., for a Saturday afternoon tilt with Northern Illinois. Tip-off at the Convocation Center is slated for 2:05 (CST) p.m., 3:05 (EST).

In its last outing, the Thundering Herd (6-7, 0-2 MAC) snapped a three-game losing streak by upending its intrastate rival West Virginia (82-76) on Tuesday in Charleston, W.Va. The win was the first versus the Mountaineers for Marshall head coach and Texas native Royce Chadwick, who was annointed a West Virginian following the victory by head football coach and Beckley native Bob Pruett. MU?s win ended a three-game skid to WVU.

Northern Illinois is 2-0 in MAC play (5-8 overall) for the first time since the 2000-01 season. The Huskies won three straight and will play their first league game at home Saturday versus Marshall. NIU dealt the defending league tournament champion Eastern Michigan a 55-53 loss in the conference opener on Jan. 8 before traveling to Toledo to upset the Rockets at home.

Saturday?s game will be broadcast on Marshall?s student station, WMUL 88.1-FM, which will also utilize a web broadcast at www.marshall.edu/wmul.
